Abstract
To estimate the risk of transmission of paternal chromosomal anomalies to the offspring conceived through ART, the meiotic segregation of sex chromosomes were analyzed by FISH on the spermatozoa of infertile males. The results show no significant increase in anomalies in infertile individuals when compared with the control group or fertile subjects. But the results from other studies suggest that infertile men undergoing ART may have increased risk of transmitting sex chromosomal anomalies to their offspring. Hence genetic counseling programs for infertile couples undergoing ART procedures should be recommended and FISH technique should be made mandatory to optimize the choice of ART techniques.
