Abstract

Grh, the last member of TTFs, is expressed in neuroblasts and GMCs and is absent in neurons. Grh is important for determining the fate of neuroblasts by regulating the proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. We were curious to find out whether Grh is expressed in glial cells and regulates the fate of postembryonic neuroblasts from there. However, we didn’t find any expression of Grh in glial cells, implying that Grh may be exclusively required in neuroblasts to regulate their proliferation and apoptosis. Grh is the only member of TTFs that is expressed in neuroblasts from the late embryonic stage and throughout the larval stage. We suggest that Grh pairs with different players to regulate the distinct functions in postembryonic neuroblasts.
